MALICK SIDIBÉ Exhibition

A small collection of some of Malick Sidibé unseen work opens at the Lichfield Studios

Sidibé, who became the first photographer to be awarded the Lion d'Or for Lifetime Achievement at the Venice Biennale in 2007, is now internationally respected for his black and white photographs that capture the transformation and energy of post-colonial Bamako, Mali’s capital city. Press release

It's extremely refreshing to see non-stereotypical pictures of Africa by Africans . Malick is a genius photographer and he really captures the essence of the post-colonial era. Pictures of my parents from the 60s and 70s bear striking resemblances to Malick's ingenious photographs.

I am a fan of Malick Sidibe and thanks to you my sister and I took my little bro (11) and nephew (9) to the exhibition and we all loved it!!
A new generation has discovered this treasured icon of African culture.
