Lightspeed Champion.. AKA BLACK NERD

Yesterday we were bopping around Shoreditch and we bumped into Devonte Hynes formely of those dirty noiseiks Test Icicles, and as you do we promised him a blog so here we go..

If anyone deserves the honor of being haled as a black nerd or in fact just a nerd it's Devonte!

In his first venture Test Icicles with his band members he some how managed to combine grime, punk and thrash metal (not an easy feat) and in the process make Bloc Party look like Girls Aloud!

His new solo project Lightspeed Champion seems far more intimate (although we must confess we haven't heard it all hopefully we'll get sent a copy for writing this..yeah Devonte if your reading this send us a copy!!LOL) with songs like "TELL ME WHAT IT'S WORTH".

Round 2..This time it's Jamie!

We couldn't believe it when we checked our email today. There in our inbox was a message accompanied by a photograph from the one and only Jamie Foxx!!!!!


This message read:

Make up and stuff

As we said before we don’t have a costume yet however we kind of figured these will accessorise most costumes, let’s face it most costumes feature gold some where.

Now we could of spend nuff corn on Mac eyeshadows, but with this trip costing £££££ we were happy to find this lovely pallet by Sleek at Superdrug and on visiting 3 Superdrug’s we finally got the last one at the Shepherds bush branch. These babies having been selling out like a Primark scrum and at £3.99 we can see why.





Mas boots

We found these Gold beauties from some kid section in a cheap shop, and yes we did go a size up (don’t want to lose no toenails, common carnival injury).

Well because we only booked this trip a couple weeks ago we find ourselves with no costume (we know shock horror).

Tribe sell of months ago with most of the big bands such as Island people and harts following suit. We love our pretty mas and now we are hoping and praying for a Tribe costume. Island people are just not cutting it this year with those hard on the eye animal things.

Survival kit

Here is the ultimate Bnn survival kit which will prepare you for all eventualities.

Ibuprofen - drinking your moneys worth at all the inclusive fetes

Bikinis in Winter

We always dread shopping for bikinis in the winter as their is not much choice, but H&M have come up trumps.



But with the pink one we could not believe we being a size 8 had to go up to a size 12 if we did not want major spillage.

We got these sandals at Urban Outfitters get it now for £4.99 each in the sale.



A few years back we also found these authentic 70s print bikinis in Benny Dee they were cheap as chips.

Liat Liat

We love flying Liat but we hate all the commess of not getting your suitcase. Our advice is to walk with some clothes with at least one fete outfit.

Well the countdown to Trini carnival is almost over, 3 days to go and we can't wait.

Here at Bnn HQ we love mas, fete and rum. We been wining in notting hill and all over the Caribbean, but its time for us to be carnival virgins and experience for the first time the Mecca that is Trinidad carnival.
